How often have you heard someone described as successful? But what does that even mean? Are they rich? Powerful job? Great parent? Kind hearted? Happy?

I think most people if asked would want to be considered successful…..but what if they already are successful and just cannot see it?

Does a new car every year mean that you are happy? Or that your family is happy? Not necessarily…..but which is more important? Does a powerful job mean you sleep easy every night? Perhaps not….but maybe if you were happy you would? Does a big bank balance mean no worries? Not always…..but a clear conscience just might.

However we choose to define it, success is undoubtedly a subjective thing…….”one man’s meat” and all that. For some people the big house, powerful job and fancy car is a measure of their success. For others, their happiness, contentedness, and peace of mind is the measure of success.

There isn’t necessarily anything wrong with either option – and in truth, most people will probably use a mixture of material things and personal feelings to determine their level of success.

The most important thing is that we decide our level of success on our lives; on our wants, needs and desires; on what is right for us in any given moment in time. Basing your success on your neighbours world will surely end in disappointment…….

…..and I think we would all agree that would not be a success…….
